The Fort Sill Apache Tribe Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) provides assistance to the Fort Sill Apache Tribal members in Caddo, Grady, and Comanche counties. LIHEAP assists with cooling assistance, heating assistance, and crisis assistance. Crisis assistance is described as a household that has exhausted their regular benefits and in need of repairs or replacement of heating or cooling equipment, have received a cut-off notice from their utility company, or the propane is close to being depleted. At times of extreme cold or heat, the tribe may waive the need to have a shut-off or empty tank if children, elderly, or disabled household members are in danger of a health risk.
LIHWAP assists with water and sewer assistance. At times of extreme cold or heat, the tribe may waive the need to have a shut-off if children, elderly, or disabled household members are in danger of a health risk.
Applicants CANNOT receive any other LIHEAP/LIHWAP assistance from another Tribe or DHS.
